Earth at Work

Love this.  I’m not sure where it comes from, having tried googling without arriving at much.  A friend wondered if it was from Alfred Hitchcock’s Vertigo but not having seen the film (I know, I know, it’s a classic) I can’t say.  Any ideas on the origin of the mystery picture?
