Storytelling

22 Jan

Love this.  I’m not sure where it comes from, having tried googling without arriving at much.  A friend wondered if it was from Alfred Hitchcock’s Vertigo but not having seen the film (I know, I know, it’s a classic) I can’t say.  Any ideas on the origin of the mystery picture? Post your comments below if you have.

This is a still from La Jetée (1963). A french film composed almost entirely of still pictures with narration. It is the inspiration in part for Terry Gilliam’s 12 MONKEYS, and probably influenced Hitchcock as well.

Gosh, thank you very much for that. I still think of that shot occassionally and wonder about it. Now I know!

You’re welcome, although I was mistaken in saying that it probably influenced Hitchcock- after all, VERTIGO was 1958. But not long after was La Jetée.
